Two Chemistry Department Lecturers of FMIPA UII Named Among the World’s Top 2% Scientists
FMIPA UII Chemistry Department Achieves Another Remarkable International Recognition
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), through its Chemistry Department, has once again achieved a remarkable international accomplishment. This time, two Chemistry Department lecturers—Prof. Dr. Is Fatimah, S.Si., M.Si., and Ganjar Fadillah, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.—have been listed among the world’s Top 2% Scientists, a recognition released by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier BV on 27 Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 H / 20 September 2025 M.
This recognition serves as clear evidence that the quality of lecturers in the Chemistry Department in particular, and FMIPA UII in general, is capable of competing with world-class researchers.
According to Dr. Ganjar Fadillah, M.Si., Ph.D., the award is based on bibliometric indicators such as citations, h-index, and c-score (with and without self-citations), which reflect research influence across various scientific disciplines. “For me, research is a shared journey that grows from curiosity, constructive criticism, and the spirit to bring benefits. Keep creating, keep questioning, and keep contributing, because science only grows when curiosity meets purpose,” he expressed when interviewed by UII News after receiving the recognition.
This year’s Top 2% World Scientists Award also marks another outstanding achievement for the Chemistry Department. Prof. Dr. Is Fatimah, M.Si., who also serves as the Head of the Chemistry Department, has successfully made it onto the Top 2% World Scientists list for five consecutive years (2020–2025) in the “Career Category”, while Dr. Ganjar Fadillah, M.Si., Ph.D. has earned the same recognition three times (2023–2025) in the “Single Year Category.” Both are distinguished lecturers of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA UII.
This achievement further strengthens the reputation of FMIPA in particular and Universitas Islam Indonesia in general as one of the leading higher education institutions in Indonesia, producing excellent alumni and outstanding academic talents in the field of chemistry. With this accomplishment, it is hoped that the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia, will continue to serve as a reference for other institutions and contribute even more to the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia.
