9 Teams of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UII Become Finalists of PHIC Unair 2022

 

Kaliurang – Nine student teams from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Indonesian Islamic University (UII) Yogyakarta succeeded in becoming finalists in the 2022 Public Health International Competition (PHIC). This international competition was organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Public Health, Airlangga University. (FKM Unair) Surabaya.

 

This was stated by Kuntari SSi, MSc, a competency supervisor for the D3 Chemical Analysis Study Program, FMIPA UII in Yogyakarta, Monday (19/9/2022). PHIC is an international competition in the fields of science and creativity organized by BEM FKM Unair. The types of competitions that are contested are Paper and Infographic.

 

“I feel happy and proud. In the midst of busy lectures and organizations, our students can still compete for achievements at the international level,” said Kuntari. Kuntari further explained that the nine FMIPA UII teams consisted of five teams in the Infographic category, and four teams in the Paper category. Each team consists of three students from one Study Program (Prodi) and there is collaboration from two Study Programs.

 

The five Infographic Teams are Team 1 Belva Abrar Irawan with the title How’s the impact of COVID-19 on Students’ Mental Health. This team is a collaboration between Pharmacy and Chemistry Education Study Programs. Team 2, Talitha Luna Ramadisa with the title How Dose Climate Change Affects Influenza from the Pharmacy Study Program.

 

Team 3 Tharisya Qurrota A’yuni with the title Human and Air Pollution. This team is a collaboration of Pharmacy and Statistics Study Program. Team 4 Alvyna Kartika Khairunisa with the title Beware of Monkeypox. This team is a collaboration of Pharmacy and Chemistry Education Study Programs. Team 5, Sekar Salma Putri with the title Climate Change and Food Insecurity. The students of this team are from the Pharmacy and Statistics Study Program.

 

While the Paper category is Team 1 Eriko Elsa Daje with the title Micro Greenhouse-Hydroponics-Horticulture: Alternative Solutions for The Impact of Climate Change For House-Scale Community Health; Team 2 Yua Piyur Alifa with the title Gel Hand Sanitizer: Utilization of Eucalyptus and Aloe Vera as Antiseptic for Handling Bacteria and Viruses; Team 3 Nur Shifa Qomariyah with the title Paper Soap: Utilization of Citronella Essential Oil (Cymbopogon Citratus DC.) and Aloevera Gel as Basic Ingredients for Making Hand Washing Paper Soap in Effort to Prevent The Covid-19 Virus; and Team 4 Hana Trisa Andini with the title The Impact of Covid-19 On Medication Adherence of Patients With Chronic Diseases Around the Indonesian Islamic University.

 

“The finalist assistance is carried out intensively, both at the Study Program level with supervisors and at the Faculty level through preparation of presentation techniques, deepening material and presentation simulations,” said Kuntari.

 

While apt Mutiara Herawati, SFarm, MSc, lecturer and also Person In Charge (PIC) FMIPA UII, added that this PHIC will take place from 23 May to 23 August 2022, while the Grand Final is scheduled for 15 October 2022. The first winner of Infographics will receive a cash prize of 150 USD dollars, gold medals and e-certificates. The second place winner will receive 120 USD, silver medal and e-certificate. Third place, 90 USD, bronze medal and e-certificate.

 

In the Paper category, the first winner will receive a cash prize of 200 USD, a gold medal, and an e-certificate. The second place winner will receive 150 USD, a silver medal and an e-certificate. Third place, get 100 USD, bronze medal, and e-certificate.
