FMIPA UII – The Master of Pharmacy Study Program (PSFPM) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) has successfully earned an “Excellent” accreditation in its initial accreditation submission to the Independent Accreditation Institution for Health Higher Education (LAM-PTKes). LAM-PTKes is an independent accreditation body for health-related higher education institutions in Indonesia that has been operating since March 2015. It is authorized to accredit professional health organizations and associations in fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, Pharmacy, and Public Health.

PSFPM FMIPA UII is a newly established program, officially founded in 2021 under the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No: 110/E/0/2021, concerning the opening of the Master of Pharmacy Study Program at the Islamic University of Indonesia in Yogyakarta, managed by the UII Endowment Foundation (Yayasan Badan Wakaf UII).

A high-quality study program is essential in producing outstanding graduates who are highly sought after by employers. Thus, accreditation becomes a vital factor, especially for a newly established program such as PSFPM FMIPA UII. The program aims to prepare competent pharmacy master’s graduates specializing in pharmaceutical development, pharmaceutical services, and education development based on big data utilization to support policymaking and enhance service quality in healthcare facilities.

To meet the required quality standards, PSFPM submitted its accreditation proposal to LAM-PTKes in 2023. The site assessment for accreditation was conducted on Monday to Wednesday, 5–6 Jumadil Akhir 1445H / 18–19 December 2023, at FMIPA UII and other supporting facilities within UII, such as the Integrated Laboratory and the UII Central Library. The assessors for the site visit were Prof. Dr. apt. Daryono Hadi Tjahjono, M.Sc. (ITB) as assessor 1, and Prof. Dr. apt. Yahdiana Harahap, M.Si. (UI) as assessor 2.

Exactly ten days after the site visit, on 16 Jumadil Akhir 1445H / 29 December 2023, the PSFPM FMIPA UII received joyful news. Through Decree No. 0981/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Mag/XII/2023 dated 29 December 2023, issued by the Board of the Indonesian Independent Accreditation Association for Health Higher Education (PERKUMPULAN LAM-PTKes), PSFPM FMIPA UII was officially awarded “Excellent” Accreditation with a score of 361—an extraordinary achievement for a newly established program undergoing its first accreditation process.

When contacted by UII News, the Head of the Master of Pharmacy Program, Dr. apt. Asih Triastuti, M.Pharm., with tears of joy, expressed her gratitude for receiving an “Excellent” rating in their very first accreditation. Asih stated, “This achievement is the result of the hard work of the accreditation team and the support from the university leadership, academic community, alumni, partners, and graduate users who collectively contributed to the accreditation process.” She also expressed hope that this achievement would serve as a strong motivation to expand the program’s impact both nationally and internationally.

At the end of the session, UII News extended heartfelt congratulations on the accreditation, hoping it would serve as additional momentum for UII in preparing graduates to compete on the global stage.
