FMIPA UII – Completing the joy of the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) in particular and the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) in general at the end of the 2023 calendar, the moment was perfected by the Inauguration of Professor in the Field of Electrochemical Analysis and Environmental Remediation, Prof. Rudy Syahputra, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., on Tuesday, 6 Jumadil Akhir 1445H / 19 December 2023 at the Auditorium of Prof. K.H. Abdul Kahar Muzakir UII.

Through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia number 26468/M/07/2023 dated 2 May 2023 concerning the promotion of academic ranks for lecturers, Rudy Syahputra, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., with Lecturer Identification Number: 0503087201/14105100100067 was promoted to the rank of Professor in the field of Electrochemical Analysis and Environmental Remediation, with a credit score of 922. With the issuance of this decree, Prof. Rudy Syahputra, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. becomes the fourth professor produced by the Department of Chemistry FMIPA UII, following consecutively Prof. Riyanto, Ph.D. (currently serving as Dean), Prof. Dr. Is Fatimah, M.Si., and Prof. Allwar, Ph.D., who had previously attained the highest academic rank in the field of chemistry within the department.

In the inaugural address of his professorship, the newly appointed chemistry professor, who was born in Aceh 53 years ago, delivered a scientific speech entitled “Soil and Water Environmental Remediation: Application of Phytoremediation and Electrochemical Processes”, focusing on the explanation that environmental remediation is “an essential process for restoring the environment by removing pollutants from soil and water that are connected to the ecosystem. This process helps to protect the environment and public health by reducing the presence of hazardous substances,” he stated.

During this professorial inauguration ceremony at the Islamic University of Indonesia, in addition to Prof. Rudy Syahputra, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. as Professor in the Field of Electrochemical Analysis and Environmental Remediation at the Department of Chemistry FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Kusrini, M.T. was also inaugurated as Professor in the Field of Supply Chain Management at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Islamic University of Indonesia.
