FMIPA Marcom Training to Face UII Student Admission 2024

FMIPA UII – In an effort to strengthen promotional strategies for the 2024 student admissions of the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), the Marketing and Communication (Marcom) team of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UII held a training titled “Integrated Marketing Communications” (IMC). This event took place on Saturday, January 13, 2024, or 1 Rajab 1445 H, at the FMIPA UII Auditorium.

The IMC Plan developed by FMIPA UII focuses on promoting several academic programs, including the Bachelor’s programs in Statistics, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry Education, the Diploma in Chemical Analysis, and international classes for Statistics, Chemistry, and Pharmacy programs.

The decline in new student enrollment across almost all study programs at UII in 2023, including FMIPA, has become a serious concern for the faculty leadership. Various strategic steps have been taken to increase the number of applicants in 2024, including strengthening the promotional team’s capabilities through training. The IMC training is one of FMIPA UII’s early efforts to accelerate and optimize its promotional activities.

The training was attended by all Marcom FMIPA members as well as several students specially recruited as faculty ambassadors. It is hoped that through this training, the promotional ambassadors will gain in-depth and structured knowledge of marketing strategies, enabling them to effectively promote FMIPA UII study programs in an appealing way to prospective students.

In the first session of the training, Dr. Herman Felani, S.S., M.A., from the Faculty of Psychology UII, delivered material on developing an IMC Plan. “When preparing an IMC Plan, we must start by identifying the main target audience, namely high school students interested in science, mathematics, chemistry, and pharmacy. It’s essential to understand their needs and expectations so that we can develop a targeted marketing strategy,” said Dr. Herman. He also emphasized that the communication plan should highlight FMIPA’s academic excellence, research contributions, and its connection with the industry. This is key to increasing the appeal of the study programs and maintaining FMIPA’s reputation as a center of excellence in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy, and statistics.

In the next session, Nurcahyo Imam Prakoso, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., who is also an FMIPA lecturer, presented general information about the faculty and its study programs. In this session, participants were equipped with more detailed and comprehensive knowledge about FMIPA, enabling them to effectively explain the advantages and opportunities offered by FMIPA UII to prospective students and their parents.

Through this training, it is expected that the entire Marcom team and FMIPA UII promotional ambassadors will carry out their promotional tasks more effectively and strategically, thereby attracting more prospective students for the 2024 academic year.
