FMIPA UII Faculty Roadshow for 2024 Student Admission Promotion

FMIPA UII  – Expo Lexus 2024, held in Lebak, Banten, marked the peak of the student admission promotion campaign by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) at the beginning of this year. The event took place from Thursday to Sunday, January 18–21, 2024, which coincided with 6–9 Rajab 1445 H. Previously, similar promotional activities had been conducted in Cirebon and Karawang, with Expo Lexus being the final destination of FMIPA UII’s roadshow.

The decline in the number of applicants in the 2022/2023 academic year across almost all study programs at UII, including FMIPA, became a challenge that the promotion team had to overcome. Nurcahyo Imam Prakoso, Ph.D., as the Head of the FMIPA UII 2024 New Student Admission (PMB) Team, stated that various marketing strategies have been developed to increase the number of applicants this year. These include the Alumni Goes to School program, school roadshows, participation in various educational exhibitions (expos), and intensive promotion through social media.

Expo Lexus 2024 in Lebak, Banten itself is the largest educational exhibition in Banten Province, attended by thousands of high school students from various regions of Banten. This area is also one of the home regions of FMIPA UII students, making participation in the expo a strategic step to attract potential prospective students. FMIPA UII sent 7 delegates consisting of lecturers, lab staff, administrative staff, and students from the Marcom (Marketing Communication) team. They were responsible for providing information about FMIPA UII and collecting data on potential prospective students.

Each delegate had a specific role at the exhibition booth. Lecturers explained the curriculum and study programs offered, lab staff described the laboratory facilities and processes, administrative staff elaborated on administrative aspects, while Marcom students shared their experiences regarding campus life and academic atmosphere at FMIPA UII. Thus, booth visitors could obtain comprehensive information based on their questions.

In addition to participating in the expo, the FMIPA UII delegation team also promoted the faculty at several schools along the journey from Yogyakarta to Banten. Schools visited included SMA NQS Cirebon, MAN 2 Cirebon, and SMA IT Al Irsyad Karawang. At each visit, the team successfully gathered data on prospective students with potential to register at FMIPA UII. This data would then be passed on to the respective study programs within FMIPA for further promotion via WhatsApp and other information channels.

With the various promotional efforts carried out, FMIPA UII hopes to attract more prospective students in the 2024/2025 academic year, while also introducing the strengths of its study programs to the wider community.
