UII’s 81st Anniversary: Best Faculty and a Handful of Sweetly Etched Achievements
FMIPA UII (12/2) – The Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) celebrated its 81st anniversary on Monday (12/2) at the Prof. K.H. Abdulkahar Mudzakkir Auditorium, Integrated Campus of UII. This year’s celebration carried the theme “Dedication to the Nation”, as a call for the entire UII academic community to maintain their commitment in fulfilling their role as an excellent educational institution in shaping future scholars and national leaders.
UII Rector, Prof. Fathul Wahid, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., in the 81st Anniversary Open Senate Meeting, expressed his pride in UII’s achievements throughout 2023. In its mature age, UII continues to affirm its contribution to Indonesia’s progress and humanity. “It is important for UII to continue to be an educational institution that focuses on meaningful growth, realizes diversity, and delivers positive impact. The theme ‘Dedication to the Nation’ in this 81st anniversary celebration reflects our determination to contribute significantly,” said the Rector.
The report on UII’s progress in 2023 highlighted key achievements and programs that had been implemented. These included strengthening internal values, continuous innovation, and expanding its footprint in society, inspired by Surah Ibrahim verses 24–25. “This success is the result of collaboration among all UII members, including students, staff, faculty, and external support. All these efforts were carried out with the same goal, namely for the nation and humanity,” added Prof. Fathul Wahid.
Chairman of the UII Waqf Foundation Board (YBW), Dr. Suparman Marzuki, S.H., M.Si., also appreciated UII’s achievements in the previous year. He emphasized the importance of UII in producing intellectuals who contribute to society. “However, the challenge for UII does not stop here. We must work even harder, with stronger commitment, to advance UII further than before,” said Suparman Marzuki.
Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region V of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Prof. Setyabudi Indartono, M.M., Ph.D., congratulated UII on its 81st Anniversary. He highlighted UII’s contribution in producing the highest number of Professors in the region. “As the oldest university in Indonesia, UII has shown its contribution in developing an academic culture that can respond to the challenges of the times,” said Prof. Setyabudi Indartono.
The 81st Anniversary speech was delivered by Prof. Rifqi Muhammad, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., with the theme “Strengthening Government and Business Governance in Supporting the Achievement of SDGs 2030.” He pointed out Indonesia’s opportunities in reaching these goals through the demographic bonus but also highlighted several challenges such as the lack of governance in the public and business sectors.
This year’s Open Senate Meeting also honored units and individuals who had made the best contributions to UII. These included awards for lecturers, staff, faculties, departments, and study programs that achieved the highest accomplishments throughout 2023.
The UII Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) contributed several outstanding names in various categories. The first category, “25 Years of Dedicated Service Award for Permanent UII Employees,” was awarded to several names, including Dr. Raden Bagus Fajriya Hakim, S.Si., M.Si., Prof. Dr. Is Fatimah, S.Si., M.Si., Prof. Rudy Syahputra, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Dr. Noor Fitri, S.Si., M.Si., apt. Pinus Jumaryatno, S.Si., M.Phil., Ph.D., and Dr. apt. Farida Hayati, S.Si., M.Si.
Another prestigious category, “Top Performing Lecturer in Science and Technology at UII in 2023,” was awarded to a lecturer from the Statistics program, Achmad Fauzan, S.Pd., M.Si. This was followed by the “Top Academic Administration Staff at UII in 2023” category, achieved by Irvan Rizkiansyah, S.Pd., who ranked third, along with the “Top Educational Laboratory Technician of 2023” category, awarded to Yon Haryanto, S.TP., as first place winner. At its peak, the “Best Faculty of 2023” title was awarded to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, followed by the “Best Undergraduate and Diploma Study Program of 2023” category, which was awarded to the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program.
