Department of Pharmacy, FMIPA UII Becomes a Reference for Study Visit by the Faculty of Pharmacy, UNJANI Cimahi

FMIPA UII – The Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), became a reference in the curriculum development of the Pharmacy Study Program and the Pharmacist Professional Program of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (UNJANI) Cimahi, during a discussion held in the main meeting room of FMIPA UII on Wednesday, 16 Sha’ban 1445H / 28 February 2024.

Opening the discussion, Prof. Dr. Apt. Yandi Syukri, M.Si., Head of the Department of Pharmacy and also the Chair of the Indonesian Association of Pharmacy Higher Education (APTFI), introduced Universitas Islam Indonesia and its history to the Unjani Cimahi delegation. Universitas Islam Indonesia, the oldest national university in Indonesia, is consistently committed to the nation. In addition to explaining the direction and goals of higher pharmacy education in Indonesia—currently under his leadership at the association—Prof. Yandi also presented the development and achievements of the Department of Pharmacy at FMIPA UII, which has now reached its 25th anniversary. He recounted the department’s journey, which included ups and downs before becoming as established as it is today—comparable to top pharmacy programs in developed countries.

He also shared how, in its early days, the department struggled without a dedicated building, borrowing facilities from other faculties, having limited lecturers, and relying on cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy at UGM, whose lecturers taught outside of their regular working hours. The department’s vision and mission were built from scratch, leading up to today’s achievements, including both National Accreditation with “Excellent” status and International Accreditation from ASIIN, Germany—reflecting the current quality of the Pharmacy Study Program at FMIPA UII.

Responding to Prof. Yandi’s opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Unjani Cimahi, Dr. Apt. Fahrauk Faramayuda, M.Sc., expressed his gratitude for being warmly welcomed at FMIPA UII in the context of a benchmarking visit related to the development of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Unjani Cimahi. The event continued with discussions attended by lecturers from both institutions. It is hoped that this visit will lead to future collaboration between the Department of Pharmacy FMIPA UII and the Faculty of Pharmacy Unjani Cimahi in developing pharmaceutical education. The series of discussions concluded with a tour of the FMIPA building and a group photo.
