Statistics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Successfully Held ISBIS 2024 Seminar

FMIPA UII  – The Statistics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) successfully hosted the International Symposium organized by the International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics (ISBIS) from 5 to 7 Muharram 1446 H (11 to 13 July 2024) at Alana Hotel & Convention Center, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

ISBIS is an association affiliated with the International Statistical Institute (ISI), aimed at promoting the use of statistics in business and industry worldwide. This conference served as a platform for the application, research, and best practices in statistics, while also facilitating technology transfer and bridging communication between global members and practitioners.

This symposium, which is a biennial conference first held in Sydney in 2005, has taken place in various locations such as the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bangkok, the United States, Barcelona, Greece, and Italy, before arriving in Indonesia this year.

Carrying the theme “The Power of Statistics, AI, and Machine Learning in Business and Industry,” the conference featured several prominent speakers, including the Rector of UII, Fathul Wahid, as well as experts from IIT Kanpur, India (Debasis Kundu), and Emma Jingfei Zhang from Goizueta Business School, Emory University, USA.

In a press conference on 7 Muharram 1446 H (13 July 2024), ISBIS President Prof. Paulo Canas Rodrigues emphasized that this event is an important part of the biennial symposium series that has been a tradition since 2005.
