SLEMAN – The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) successfully organized the 5th International Conference on Chemistry, Chemical Process, and Engineering (IC3PE) and the International Seminar on Chemical Education (ISCE) on Wednesday, Safar 9 1446 H/14 August 2024, at Alana Sleman Hotel, Yogyakarta.
This event served as a platform to disseminate research findings from universities, research centers, and government institutions, as well as to foster collaboration between academia and industry. The conference featured three international speakers: Prof. Taifo Mahmud from Oregon State University, USA; Prof. Won-Chun Oh from Hanseo University, South Korea; and Associate Prof. Dr. Corrienna binti Abdul Talib from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Participants attended from various countries, including Japan, Thailand, Korea, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with four additional invited speakers.
“This conference is an annual event that this year combines two themes, namely chemical processes and education. Our primary focus is on academic, industrial, and digital education approaches,” explained the Chair of the International Conference, Ganjar Fadillah, Ph.D. He added that the purpose of this conference is to emphasize the importance of chemistry on a global scale, as many people are still unfamiliar with its role in daily life. “With the spirit of green chemistry, we strive to support sustainable chemical processes and industries while creating opportunities for more environmentally friendly and efficient technology,” he added. Ganjar believes that research innovation and strategic partnerships in the field of chemistry can pave the way for a more sustainable future.
