Department of Pharmacy, FMIPA UII Successfully Held the International Seminar “The 5th International Conference on Pharmaceutical Research and Practice” (ICPRP) 2024.

FMIPA UII – The Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), successfully organized the international seminar “International Conference on Pharmaceutical Research and Practice” (ICPRP) 2024. The seminar was held at the Alana Hotel Convention Center, Yogyakarta, serving as a significant discussion forum for experts and researchers to explore the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science in drug development and pharmaceutical practice.

Carrying the theme “Emerging of AI and Data Science in Pharmaceuticals,” ICPRP 2024 featured prominent speakers from various countries to share insights and experiences related to innovation in pharmacy. Conference participants were given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on the use of AI in the development of new drugs, clinical data analysis, and personalized medicine.

Prior to the main event, several workshops were held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UII from September 11–13, 2024. These workshops aimed to provide a deeper understanding of various topics related to AI and data science in the pharmaceutical world.

As the host, the Department of Pharmacy at UII invited academics, pharmacy practitioners, students, and other stakeholders in the pharmaceutical field to participate in ICPRP 2024. The conference was supported by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Universitas Mulawarman, who acted as co-hosts.

The ICPRP 2024 conference began with a Keynote Speech by Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, M.Si., Ph.D., who serves as the Deputy Chair for Research and Cooperation, Association of Indonesian Pharmacy Higher Education. The Plenary Session was led by apt. Saepudin, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., and featured three main speakers: Prof. Peter W. Swaan, Ph.D., M.Pharm. (Dean of Florida College of Pharmacy), Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan (Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University), and Apt. Rizman Abudaeri, S.Si. (Pharma Business Expertise).

Following the Plenary Session, the conference continued with two parallel symposiums. The first symposium, titled “Application of Artificial Intelligence/Novel Technology on Drug Development and Clinical Practice,” was chaired by apt. Suci Hanifah, Ph.D., with speakers Dr. Sabariah Noor Harun, Dr. Zalikha Ibrahim, and Dr. apt. Dimas Adhi Pradana, M.Sc. The second symposium, themed “Pharmacometrics and Education in New Technology Era,” featured Mukhammad Andri Setiawan, M.Sc., Ph.D., apt. Okti Ratna Mafruhah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. apt. Angga Cipta Narsa, M.Si., and Dr. Nusaibah Abdul Rahim.

This conference is expected to serve as a meeting point for pharmaceutical professionals to collaborate and share innovations in this new era of technology and data science
