Dean of FMIPA UII advises graduates to avoid three “diseases”
FMIPA UII – “As the Dean representing the entire academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, we advise all graduates that after leaving this beloved FMIPA, you must be free from these three diseases: Kadas, Kudis, and Kurap.”
This statement immediately surprised the audience, especially the prospective graduates. They looked around at each other, seemingly wondering, “Did anyone actually experience such diseases during college?”
However, the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Riyanto, Ph.D., fondly known as Prof. Ri, quickly clarified that “Kadas” means Kurang Cerdas (Lack of Intelligence), “Kudis” stands for Kurang Disiplin (Lack of Discipline), and “Kurap” refers to Kurang Rapi (Lack of Neatness). After this explanation, the previously serious and tense atmosphere turned more relaxed. The participants nodded and smiled, with some even saying, “Oh, I see.”
Although the mood became lighter, the key message from the faculty remained clear: FMIPA graduates must be individuals who are smarter, more disciplined, and neater. With these qualities, a bright future is expected to come their way, said Prof. Ri in his address.
The graduation farewell event for the 3rd period of the 2024/2025 academic year took place on 24 Rajab 1446H / 24 January 2025 at the FMIPA Auditorium of the Islamic University of Indonesia. In addition to a career and job preparation seminar delivered by DPKA UII, FMIPA alumni who are now working professionals were also present to share their experiences. On this occasion, Ahmad Rohiqim Makhtum, an alumnus of the 2018 Statistics program and currently Leader of Data Analyst and IT at PT Gawe Becik Nadhah Anugrah, was among the speakers.
This graduation farewell was attended by 36 graduates from various study programs, namely: Statistics (12), Chemistry (6), Pharmacy (14), D3 Analytical Chemistry (1), Master of Statistics (1), and Master of Pharmacy (2).
