FMIPA Ramadhan Pesantren 1446H: Understanding the Science of Inheritance (Faraidh) to Preserve Family Harmony and Health

FMIPA UII – In Surah An-Nisa verses 11, 12, and 176, Allah has determined the portions of inheritance in detail so that the rights of each heir can be fulfilled fairly. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said: “Learn the science of faraidh and teach it to people, for indeed this knowledge is half of the knowledge, and it will be forgotten. This knowledge is the first to be taken away from my people.” (HR. Ibnu Majah). This was conveyed as the opening material in the FMIPA Ramadhan Pesantren by Ustadz. Akhmad Arif Rifan, S.H.I., M.Si. on Thursday, 20 Ramadhan 1446H / 20 March 2025 at the FMIPA UII Auditorium.

In a session that was quite interesting and received very good enthusiasm from the FMIPA academic community as participants of this pesantren, Ustadz Ahmad, besides explaining in detail the distribution of inheritance law and its foundations, also emphasized the importance for Muslims to understand the science of faraidh in order to uphold justice and avoid family disputes, because if viewed more broadly, the science of faraidh can maintain family harmony and health according to sharia as part of worship and social responsibility to preserve the integrity of family and society.

The 1446 H FMIPA Ramadhan Pesantren itself was divided into several sessions beginning with a speech from the Dean of FMIPA, followed by the completion of the Qur’an recitation participated by the entire academic community and several material presentations including Ustadz DR. dr.
