Strengthening Internationalization, FMIPA Chemistry Study Program Hosts Visiting Professor
FMIPA UII – The Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Islamic University of Indonesia, once again strengthens its internationalization efforts by organizing a Visiting Professor program on April 21–27, 2025.
On this occasion, the Chemistry Study Program invited a prominent academic in the field of chemistry from Malaysia, Prof. Suresh Sagadevan (Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre, University of Malaya, Malaysia), who will share knowledge and experience with the academic community of the Chemistry Study Program through guest lectures and discussions.
The Head of the Chemistry Study Program FMIPA, Gani Purwiandono, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., when met by UII News, stated that the Visiting Professor activity by Prof. Suresh Sagadevan from the University of Malaya had a positive impact on the Chemistry Department.
He delivered a lecture to students on Nanomaterial Technology in Industry which broadened their insight and increased students’ enthusiasm for learning.
In addition, the scientific writing training provided to lecturers was very beneficial in improving publication skills in reputable journals. Furthermore, this activity enriched the academic atmosphere and encouraged sustainable collaboration, he added.

Guest Lecture/Studium Generale, Advanced in Nanotechnology: Basic Concepts and Applications in Chemistry on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Class: Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Internal Discussion in Chemistry Department/Course in Magister on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Next, Workshop on Nanomaterials for Environmental Applications on Thursday, April 24, 2025, and Workshop on International Publications on Friday, April 25, 2025, in which all activities were attended by lecturers, education staff, and Chemistry Study Program students as appointed by the organizing team.
