FMIPA UII – The Mayor of Banda Aceh, Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal, along with a delegation from the Banda Aceh City Government, visited the CEOS (Center of Essential Oil Studies) on 13 Safar 1447 H/7 August 2025 at the Integrated Laboratory Complex of FMIPA UII. This visit was part of a series of events related to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Islamic University of Indonesia and the Banda Aceh City Government.

During the visit, which was directly received by the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Riyanto, Ph.D., who also provided a detailed explanation regarding the processes at CEOS, Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal expressed her interest in the use of industrial-scale distillation equipment at CEOS to enhance the skills of MSMEs in Banda Aceh. In addition, she was also impressed with the essential oil products developed at CEOS, including kaffir lime oil.

In a separate occasion, the Mayor, who was inaugurated on 12 February 2025, emphasized her strong commitment to the development of MSMEs in her region, considering the abundant natural potential of Banda Aceh. She also conveyed that to further strengthen cooperation in essential oil management between her administration and CEOS UII, she plans to soon send a special staff team to follow up on this collaboration.
