FMIPA UII – On Saturday, July 16, 2022, the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program held an event for the 2019 class students entitled “Mental Strengthening and Self-Upgrading.” This event was held in collaboration with Klinik Metamorfosa, one of the applied psychology centers in Yogyakarta.

The event started at 08.00 AM and was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Human Resources of FMIPA UII, apt. Saepudin, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., who explained during his speech and opening remarks that in times like these, students really need mental strengthening and self-upgrading because the burdens they bear are very heavy—not only academically but also from campus life and the post-Covid-19 pandemic situation. He expressed hope that this event would have a positive impact on students’ mental state in facing future academic life so that they can graduate quickly and have successful careers.

After the event was officially opened, the Metamorfosa team took over the entire series of activities. The first activity was an assessment for all students participating in the event. Phasniwati, M.A., a psychologist from Metamorfosa, explained that the assessment was carried out as the initial step and was useful for evaluating the mental health level of each participating student. The results would later be useful for further actions if needed. The assessment consisted of two tests specifically designed for university students.

After the assessment, the next session was sharing and ice-breaking activities where students were encouraged to share their experiences and participate in fun group games prepared by Metamorfosa.

The final session was a reflection. During this session, the Metamorfosa team facilitated a psychological push by bringing back past memories of the students to help them reflect and realize the many things that can motivate their lives. This was considered the peak moment of self-upgrading and mental strengthening. According to the event coordinator, apt. Mutiara Herawati, S.Farm., M.Sc., the event was generally successful, as indicated by the students’ enthusiasm during attendance, Q&A sessions, and their active participation in all event activities.
