Pharmacy Department of the Faculty of MIPA UII Sends Its Students to Poland
FMIPA UII – Andika Wahyu Wardana is a student of the Pharmacy Department, specifically in the 2019 Pharmacy Study Program at the Islamic University of Indonesia, who successfully passed the selection to participate in the Student Exchange Program (SEP) in Poland. This program is organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) in collaboration with the Indonesian Pharmacy Student Senate Association (ISMAFARSI).
Every year, more than 900 students from around the world take part in this program to gain internship experience in the field of pharmacy in various countries.
Before being selected, Andika went through several selection stages, starting from document selection, including the Europass Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a motivation letter, followed by an interview selection with the Student Exchange Officer (SEO) of ISMAFARSI, including choosing the destination country and field of interest. After being declared successful, Andika began preparing his English language skills by participating in international activities such as the Virtual Students Exchange Program.
In this opportunity, Andika received an internship placement in the field of Community Pharmacy at Pod Bazylika Apteka and Apteka Ligocka, Poland. He also had the opportunity to collaborate with the University of Silesia. This activity was held from July 3 to 18, 2022.
In this field, Andika performed and learned about the preparation of pharmaceutical products and health equipment. What differentiates it from Indonesia is that pharmacies in Poland prepare sterile preparations for eye drops and also conduct dispensing for the Polish community. Additionally, he participated in discussions and sharing sessions about the pharmaceutical field in Poland. Furthermore, Andika joined SEP activities with students from various countries such as Iran, Hungary, Serbia, and also several pharmacy students from Poland.
It is hoped that this program will continue and inspire others to participate in similar internship programs. There are many benefits to be gained from joining such internships, including expanding networks, building a global mindset, gaining many new experiences, and learning new knowledge about the pharmaceutical world. This activity is also expected to serve as valuable preparation for the future, to be more beneficial when returning to Indonesia and applying the knowledge there. – Udin
