Masa Ta’aruf (MASTA) for New Students 2022 of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia, with the theme “Young Scientists, Embracing the World, Reaching Beyond Horizons”

FMIPA UII – Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UII – The Masa Ta’aruf (MASTA) orientation program for new FMIPA UII students in 2022 was held over three days offline at the FMIPA UII parking area. This new student orientation carried the theme “Young Scientists, Embracing the World, Reaching Beyond Horizons.”

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia (FMIPA UII), began welcoming new students for the 2022/2023 academic year with the Masa Ta’aruf (MASTA) FMIPA UII 2022 program. This three-day event took place from Monday, August 29, 2022, to Wednesday, August 31, 2022, and was conducted onsite at the FMIPA UII parking area. The event was attended by more than 500 enthusiastic new students who were introduced to various aspects of FMIPA UII throughout the program.

The first day, or Pre-MASTA, held on Monday, August 29, 2022, included a campus tour, games, and a social service visit to an orphanage. The second day, marking the official opening of MASTA, began with remarks from several representatives, including the student council, UII alumni, Mrs. Tri Esti Purbaningtyas (Vice Dean for Religion, Student Affairs, and Alumni), and finally, Prof. Riyanto, Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA UII. The symbolic opening was followed by the release of white doves by the Dean. This year’s MASTA carried the theme “Young Scientists, Embracing the World, Reaching Beyond Horizons.”

After the opening ceremony, the program continued with introductions to student organizations (DPM, LEM, LPM), department student associations (HMJ), and student activity units (UKMK). There were also performances by Saraswati FMIPA UII and a faculty discussion led by the Dean and Vice Dean. Still on the second day (MASTA Day 1), the event featured a talk show with alumni, further introductions to FMIPA’s student activity units, stand-up comedy performances by Andang Ristianto and Pandu Rizqy, a band performance, and a gift exchange session.

The third day, or MASTA Day 2, began with a Qur’an reflection session, followed by visits to FMIPA laboratories and buildings. The day continued with a personal branding seminar by Hayra Prili Ananza and was accompanied by art performances. The closing session included an awards presentation, the screening of an after-movie, a performance by UMC, the Student Oath led by the President of LEM FMIPA UII, and an inauguration. All MASTA activities were met with great enthusiasm by the new students.
