Online Gathering in Commemoration of the 27th Anniversary of FMIPA UII “Growing in Synergy, Devoted to the Ummah”
FMIPA UII – In anticipation of the 27th Anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia (FMIPA UII) in 2022, FMIPA UII held a series of events to celebrate the milestone with great joy and enthusiasm. One of the events was the Online Gathering of the FMIPA UII Family with the founder of FMIPA UII, Prof. Dr. Chairil Anwar (Dean of FMIPA UII for the 1996–2001 period), and the Rector of UII, Prof. Fathul Wahid, Ph.D.
The gathering was held online and featured two speakers who have played significant roles in the development of FMIPA UII, accompanied by a moderator who also served as the Chairperson of the 27th FMIPA UII Anniversary Committee. The event was attended by approximately 150 participants and took place solemnly. It began with an opening session and a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by a FMIPA UII student (Rizky), followed by the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and the UII Hymn. A welcoming speech was delivered by the Dean of FMIPA UII, Prof. Riyanto, Ph.D, who officially opened the event.
In the first presentation session, Prof. Fathul Wahid, Ph.D stated that all the experiences of FMIPA UII serve as lessons to build a better future for the faculty. He also emphasized in his material on “Designing the Future” that future planning should be carried out within a framework that enables the development of educational activities that generate ideas and innovations, with mutual concern and support among all parties involved.
The second speaker, Prof. Dr. Chairil Anwar, presented the History of the Establishment of FMIPA UII along with reflections on the journey and struggles during its founding, in collaboration with the early founders and pioneers. He reminded attendees to always be grateful in the process of building and advancing FMIPA UII. He also noted the importance of integrating collaborative learning with the Psychology and Islamic Education programs. Community service through Islamic preaching should also be continuously promoted, especially those related to science, mathematics, and health.
The gathering continued with a Door Prize session led by Ms. Mutiara Herawati, M.Sc, using the Quizizz application, and it was conducted in a lively manner. There were 10 winners of the door prize quiz prepared by the committee—congratulations to all winners. The event concluded with a prayer and official closing remarks by Ustadz Shubhi Mahmashony Harimurti, M.A.
The entire series of events for the 27th FMIPA UII Anniversary served as a form of gratitude from the FMIPA UII family in contributing to the development of UII, walking together, embracing one another, and building collective strength—fully in line with this year’s anniversary theme: “Growing in Synergy, Devoted to the Ummah.”
