Herbal Medicine as an Alternative Means of Treatment, Family Association of Mothers of the Islamic University of Indonesia
FMIPA UII – On Friday (21/07/2023), the extended family of the Family Association of Mothers of the Islamic University of Indonesia (IKI UII) held its regular meeting. This time, the meeting carried an educational theme on “The Use of Herbal Medicine,” presented directly by an expert in the field, Mr. apt. Hady Anshori, S.Farm., M.Sc.
The event, held at the 1st Floor West Wing of the Prof. Dr. Sardjito General Lecture Building, was observed to be full of IKI UII meeting participants. Several agenda items enlivened the meeting. First, there was a free medical check-up before the welcoming remarks delivered by the organizer, Chair of IKI FMIPA (Mrs. Ernawati Riyanto), and Chair of IKI UII (Mrs. Nurul Fathul Wahid), followed by the educational presentation on “The Use of Herbal Medicine” by Mr. apt. Hady Anshori, S.Farm., M.Sc.
Mr. Hady conveyed that herbal medicine does not need to be sought far, as it can be found in our surrounding environment. Various types of plants, from fruit plants, ornamental plants, fence plants, shade plants, to even kitchen spices, can be powerful herbal remedies used for treatment. But can we consume herbal medicine as we wish? In his next explanation, Mr. Hady stated that even though they are labeled as herbal medicines, their use must still be accurate and controlled. For example, the datura leaf, if used correctly, is beneficial for relieving respiratory issues, but if misused, it can lead to death.
The event then continued with the distribution of hajj souvenirs and prayers led by Mrs. Dr. Noor Fitri, M.Si., followed by a Tupperware demonstration by the relevant team. The meeting became even more festive with the distribution of door prizes at the end of the event.
