Visitasi Akreditasi Internasional Royal Society of Chemistry London

FMIPA UII – As part of efforts to improve quality standards, the Undergraduate and Master’s Chemistry Study Programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) underwent an international accreditation visit in collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), London on Tuesday, 9 Jumadil Awal 1445 H / 22 November 2023.

The Royal Society of Chemistry is one of the world’s most renowned international accreditation bodies in the field of chemistry. Based in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, United Kingdom, it is highly committed to advancing the chemical sciences, including through its publication of high-standard scientific journals.

Previously, in 2018, the Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program at FMIPA UII was accredited by the RSC, making it the first private chemistry program in Indonesia to receive accreditation from the Royal Society of Chemistry, London. This achievement is a source of pride, especially for FMIPA and UII as a whole. This year, marking five years since the initial accreditation, the Department of Chemistry at FMIPA also included the Master’s Program in Chemistry to undergo accreditation together with the RSC. Currently, both the Undergraduate and Master’s Chemistry Study Programs are nationally accredited with an “Excellent” rating by the Independent Accreditation Board for Natural and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA).

The accreditation visit series for the re-accreditation of the undergraduate program and the initial accreditation of the master’s program was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia and attended by university and faculty leaders, including the Directors of the University Library, DPKA, DLA, DPA, and Student Affairs; Heads of BPM, the Development Planning Agency/Innovation House, and BSI; along with the Dean and Vice Deans of FMIPA, and lecturers from the Undergraduate and Master’s Chemistry Study Programs.

Following the Rector’s opening remarks and general introduction to the university, the main session of the visit began with a Meeting with Staff. This session started with an introduction to each study program, followed by in-depth discussions on key accreditation themes, including academic practice, curriculum, assessment, quality assurance, support systems, and the learning environment. The session was conducted in a hybrid format, featuring Dr. June McCombie and Kim Smith as on-site RSC assessors at FMIPA UII, while Prof. Simon Bott participated as a remote assessor from London via Zoom.
