Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Provides Daily Iftar Meals for Students
FMIPA UII – Marhaban ya Ramadhan 1445H/2024M. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) began providing iftar meals (takjil) to students attending the last class sessions of the day during the holy month of Ramadan, starting from the first day of lectures. Wednesday, 2 Ramadan 1445 H (13 March 2024) marked the beginning of this initiative, which will continue until the final day of lectures during this Ramadan.
Achmad Rossy Cendana, A.Md., Head of the Academic Division at FMIPA UII and coordinator of the Ramadan Activities at FMIPA, explained that the takjil distribution is part of the faculty’s Ramadan agenda. This initiative demonstrates the faculty’s care for its students by providing iftar to those in the last class of the day. It aims to strengthen the relationship between students and the campus. “We want to provide the best service to students not only academically, but also beyond that. During this Ramadan, we want to get closer to them—one way is by giving takjil so they don’t have to worry about preparing iftar, especially since the last class ends at 5:30 PM, very close to the time for breaking the fast,” he added.
The program has received a warm response from students, particularly those attending the last sessions of the day. Faculty members, staff, and even security personnel have also welcomed the initiative, as they too benefit from the iftar packages, making it easier for them to perform their duties during that time. Each day, FMIPA prepares an average of 200 meal boxes, sourced from both internal and external vendors. Funding for the program comes from open donations by lecturers, staff, and students, with the remaining costs covered by the faculty’s operational budget (RKAT).
