Inauguration and Handover of the Ammunition Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
FMIPA UII – In a blessed Ramadan atmosphere, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), officially received the new Chemistry Research Laboratory Building. The inauguration and handover ceremony was conducted by the Chairman of the UII Endowment Foundation (PYBW) to the Rector of UII, accompanied by the Dean of FMIPA UII, on 21 Ramadan 1445 H / 1 April 2024, at the master’s office on the 4th floor of the Chemistry Research Laboratory Building.
Dr. Suparman Marzuki, S.H., M.Si., Chairman of PYBW UII, stated, “This is a new challenge for the Department of Chemistry, especially in facing the increased new student admissions. Hopefully, this new research laboratory building can serve as an additional promotional tool for the Department of Chemistry.” He also expressed hope that the rooms in the building could involve corporate sponsors, such as BNI and BRI, to support funding that can be used to complete the existing facilities.
UII Rector, Prof. Fathul Wahid, S.T., Ph.D., expressed his gratitude to the UII Endowment Foundation for their support in developing educational facilities, including this chemistry research laboratory building, which cost over IDR 16 billion. “We also hope that the development of waste management systems at UII can be supported, as waste issues have become a serious concern that needs attention,” he added.
The Chemistry Research Laboratory Building is a vital part of supporting academic activities in the Department of Chemistry, especially research that has long been aspired to. The handover of the building during the holy month of Ramadan adds a special blessing. This four-story building covers an area of 2,462 m² and is equipped with an elevator, with each floor designed according to its specific functions. The first floor houses the ISO Laboratory and Material Research Laboratory, the second floor is for Natural Materials and Biochemistry Research Laboratories as well as the Essential Oils Laboratory. The third floor includes the Method Development Research Laboratory, Environmental Laboratory, and Proximate Testing Laboratory. Meanwhile, the fourth floor contains a prayer room (Mushola), master’s office, and an auditorium with a capacity of 180 people.
