Department of Pharmacy FMIPA UII Participates in Asian Pharmacists Forum in Seoul, South Korea
FMIPA UII – In its effort to build international networks, particularly in Asia, the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia (FMIPA UII), participated in the 30th FAPA (Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations) Congress held at the COEX Convention Centre, Seoul, South Korea, from 26–30 Rabiul Akhir 1446 H / 29 October–2 November 2024.
The FAPA Congress is one of the major forums for pharmacists across Asia to share scientific knowledge, research findings, and to discuss current issues in pharmacy. It also serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration in achieving FAPA’s vision and mission. In addition to keynote lectures and conferences, participants joined site tours to major pharmaceutical companies in South Korea such as Hanmi Pharmaceutical, Daewoong Pharmaceutical Osong Plant, Geo-Young Group, and HANDOK Pharmaceutical, as well as visits to cosmetic R&D centers including Kolmar Korea and Amorepacific. The congress also featured hospital visits to ASAN Medical Center, Severance Hospital, Samsung Medical Center, Seoul National University Hospital, and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital.
The Department of Pharmacy at FMIPA UII emphasized its commitment to advancing the future of pharmacists in Asia by promoting pharmaceutical services that focus on improving patients’ quality of life, beyond just curing illness. Drug discovery and therapeutic development are expected to be more accurate and effective with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The FAPA Congress presented a major opportunity for Indonesian pharmacists to disseminate research, particularly in the field of AI in drug development.
